The 3-section frame of the
DB80 offers increased strength and great frame flexibility. The telescoping hitch design allows the planter to be coupled closer to the tractor for more maneuverability in the planting position. This design greatly increases overall field maneuverability. Mounting to the tractor is as easy as ever, because the planter is attached to the tractor drawbar. |

All
DB Series Planters utilize the Bauer Built Manufacturing
tri-fold markers. These high-strength markers offer many
enhanced operational benefits. The design of the marker
allows operators to get even closer to fence rows and field
edges.
Markers are
operated from the cab utilizing the frame control box.
The markers can float up 62 inches and down 62 inches with the
planter in plant position and the marker arm in the extended
position. Marking on side slopes and terraces has never
been this good. |

The
Computer-Trak 450 can monitor the performance of up to 36 rows
while providing other useful information such as average
population, total acreage, and ground speed.
SeedStar
is user friendly monitoring system using a menu-based operator
interface. All setup is done a page at a time in simple steps
with a numeric keypad for data entry. The menus are easy to
understand with text describing the options, thus eliminating
the need for an operators manual during setup.
In addition to row population the SeedStar monitor can also
display total acreage, tractor speed, vacuum pressure,
fertilizer pressure and many more features.

The
DB80 comes standard with the proven Tire Contact Ground Drive System. The drive system functions via two transmissions which eliminate the need for manual transport disconnects.
The system comes standard with 16 row disconnect.
Also available is the SeedStar Variable Rate Drive System. This drive operates on two hydraulic motors which allow for on-the-go seeding population changes right from the cab. The system
also comes standard with 16 row disconnect.
Whether you choose the Tire Contact Ground Drive or the SeedStar Variable Rate Drive, all drive chains and sprockets are located out of the residue zone to keep you in the field and out of the shop. |

Building on the proven MaxEmerge technology, John Deere has introduced the new MaxEmergeXP and Pro-SeriesXP row units. These units have been strengthened to meet the rigorous demands of varying field conditions and the wide array of planter attachments. They bring more productivity and reliability to the field, enabling operators to cover more acres in less time.
The greatest innovation for the row unit is a new, stronger ductile iron cast shank. A new manufacturing process is used to create the single-piece row unit shank. This is far stronger than the traditional 11-piece welded shank it replaces. Through the strengthening of both the ductile cast iron shank and the row unit head, the overall strength of the row unit is increased by 25 percent. The cast shank of the XP unit is also 50 percent stronger in frontal impact situations.
The Tru-Vee openers of John Deere planters have always provided an optimal seed furrow in all types of field conditions. The XP row unit builds on this tradition with new components such as a thicker blade and double row bearing which provide longer life and easier maintenance for the grower.
The MaxEmergeXP units are standard equipment on the DB80 with the Pro-SeriesXP unit standard on the Central Commodity System (CCS) machines. |

The proven vacuum seed meter comes standard with all DB Series Planters and allows 20% higher ground speeds than traditional mechanical metering systems, while offering superior flexibility between multiple crops, and less maintenance.
Finger pickup/radial bean meters are optional, but not
available on machines with the central commodity system. |

Four down force options let you match down pressure to field conditions.
The pneumatic down force, which uses a single air bag design, gives you infinitely variable down pressure up to 400 pounds per row. Pneumatic down pressure provides a more consistent down force, by allowing the row unit to recover quicker as the row units move up and down. Adjustments can be made and monitored from the cab.
Adjustable heavy-duty, and double and single springs are also available options. |

Unit
mounted coulter arms use the weight and gauging ability of the
planter unit in reduced-till conditions. The 25 wave
coulter creates extremely fine tilth in an area about
7/8" wide. The 13 wave coulter tills an area about
1" wide and gives more aggressive soil disruption at
slower speeds.
Give Tru-Vee
openers a clear path by sweeping away residue with this
unit-mounted row cleaner. The 1/4" wheel works well
in most conditions and can be raised completely out of action
or adjusted so that the fingers interlock. |

MaxEmergeXP
row units allow for either the 3.0 bushel or 1.6 bushel seed
hoppers. The 1.6 bushel seed hoppers can accommodate the
additional 70 pound granular chemical hoppers if desired.
ProSeriesXP row
units come standard with the 1/16th bushel seed hoppers and
100 bushel bulk central commodity system. CCS adds
productivity through increased seed capacity, bulk fill
capability and easy, thorough cleanout. Optional with
the CCS system is an additional 25 bushel tank for refuge seed
or additional capacity. |

The combination of narrower transport widths, low center of gravity, and more ground clearance make the
